A funny thing happened after I left Texas in 1993 and moved to Florida. I wrote six songs about a couple eking out their existence on the Texas plains in the distant past, when the West was young. I was helping Bob Wlos at L7 Studios in Deerfield Beach wrap up the last Rooster Head album, Traditional Cock, in the final days of Michael Kennedy. I played drums on some other sessions, and one day I played Bob one of the songs. He was interested and encouraged me to record them with him.
The rest is history. You can see from the credits that he and I played most everything, and we had some help from other musician friends.
We're the only band who got accepted to SXSW and didn't go! We were just a studio band and didn't think anyone would want to drive all the way there. We didn't want to pay anyone anyway.
The songs stand up pretty well. You can find the album on Spotify, Apple Music and other places.
